With this collection I try to show my origins, my customs, “MY HOMELAND”.
The main source in order to accomplish these outfits is the Galician Culture: the clothes worn by my ancestors, their shapes, the accessories and the way they used them. The women, the peasants and the Galician laundresses are great protagonists in these creations. These women, mainly characterized by being hard workers, used to wear many layers of clothes in order to carry out all their daily tasks. In LAVANDEIRA, despite being inspired in the beginning of the twentieth century, we can see a very vanguard patterning with many geometric shapes and big volumes giving the collection some modern twist.
The main fabric used in the production is the burlap, which is complemented by Vichy check and canvas. Burlap pieces are backstitched and embroidered, all completely handmade.
